Desilvering Solution: Now, take the desilvering solution (included in our Star kit) and apply it with a brush or sponge to the mirror. If you attempt this step, be sure to wear safety glasses and gloves to protect your eyes and hands. Always maintain safety with special solutions!
Wipe Off the Solution: Once the allotted time has passed, gently wipe the desilvering solution from the dish with a lint-free cloth. The two-step wash process means you’ll want to take your time during this step to ensure all of the solution is removed.
Mirrors: google-style reason why there is a science part to mirror repair! The silver coating on mirrors can degrade over time due to humidity, temperature change and chemicals in the air. These all can dull the sheen of the mirror. By desilvering it and applying a new coating, you're not just making it nice to look at, but also protecting the piece from future damage. It’s like putting a shield on your mirror!
